Growing up, I thought NOTHING would cure my suffering, except a cure itself.
Boy was I wrong.
When I first started working with my life coach, it was because I was dissatisfied with my job.
Why would I go for T1D suffering? In my mind, there was no solution for that.
I mean there was, but it would be in the form of a T1D cure. And that was years and years and billions of dollars away.
In my mind, life’s not getting any better until we rid of the thing that’s causing my misery: T1D.
🔹No one else has to take a bazillion shots a day.
🔹No one else has to eat just to exercise (might as well skip it!).
🔹No one else has to feel physiologically frustrated from a high, when before, I was in a perfectly fine mood!
My suffering was here to stay until T1D went away.
Boy was I wrong.
And looking back now, I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.
Diabetes wasn’t the problem.
It was my THINKING that was the problem. It was how I was thinking ABOUT my diabetes that was the problem.
WHAT?
Yup. I learned your thoughts drive how you feel, and my thoughts about diabetes were not very pretty. So guess how that made me feel? Pretty shitty.
Working with my coach to understand what I was thinking, and how it was causing my feelings, changed my life forever.
But it certainly didn’t happen overnight.
The most important part was — knowing that I didn’t have to wait for a cure to feel better.
