“Don’t Hire Me” Energy, And What It Taught Me About Starting Over

This Thursday marks 5 years since I officially quit my corporate career for good.

I didn’t have a plan. I just knew I couldn’t keep doing what I was doing.

I had lost my job in 2018 when my company was dissolved. By 2021, I was employed, but miserable. I had been really looking for a better opportunity for a while. Interviews, rejections, more interviews, and nothing was clicking.

I was already working with my life coach, Michelle, and one day it hit me: I kept saying I wanted a corporate job, but I was showing up with “don’t hire me” energy.

Nowonder no one was hiring me.

So I started asking myself harder questions: Do I actually want this? Do I even like the corporate world? What do I want?

I didn’t have all the answers, but I had one.

No. I don’t want this.

So I quit.

And with that one decision behind me, I could finally think a little clearer. It freed up the mental space to explore what I did want. The more I learned about the mind and body, the more I realized I wanted to help people the way coaching had helped me. So I took the leap and became a life coach.

I haven’t looked back.

Has it been easy? Absolutely not.

But it’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done.

A few things I’ve learned along the way…

1️⃣ If you’re not getting the result you think you want, ask yourself if it’s something you actually wantListen to that little voice or nudge that may have already decided. Once I asked myself the question, I immediately had the answer.

2️⃣ You don’t have to figure everything out at once. One decision can clear the way for the next. When I stopped trying to force a path I didn’t want, I finally had the capacity to see what might come next.

3️⃣ Clarity often comes after the leap. We wait for certainty before we act, but so often it’s the action itself that brings clarity. I didn’t become a coach because I had it all figured out. I became a coach because I was finally willing to follow what I wanted. And I’m still figuring it out, one step at a time.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’ve been around since the beginning or just recently joined me, I’m so grateful you’re here 💗
