Happy new year everyone!
I took the last two weeks of December completely off.
I spent two weeks binging tv, eating fun snacks, not exercising, and engaging in pure GUILTLESS bliss and relaxation!
π Guilt-LESS: Free from feelings of guilt
This was unimaginable a few years ago when I first started working with my amazing life coach Michelle Gauthier. I was plagued with guilt. If I breathed your air by accident, I felt guilty.
Michelle guided me to become aware of my thoughts that created feelings of guilt. She taught me that I am NOT my thoughts. And that those thoughts are OPTIONAL.
Then she had me write down anytime I felt guilty and what those thoughts were.
This morning, as I flipped through pages and pages of my old notes, my mouth was agapeβ¦
My thoughts ranged from guilty for:
β not producing my mom grandkids
β getting diabetes
β scheduling an hour work meeting vs 30 minutes
β standing up for myself in a facebook post
β not being there for my dad enough when he was sick
I can’t believe I ever lived like this!
As my awareness of my thoughts grew, Michelle taught me to watch my thoughts pass, like a cloud in the sky. I am NOT my thoughts. I can choose NOT to believe my thoughts.
And the more I watched them pass, the less guilty I felt. Until one day, poof! The guilt just stopped.
πͺIt felt like magic πͺ.
Now, I still have a human brain. I’m not saying I’ve never felt the emotion of guilt ever again! But it’s not a daily struggle like it used to be. But now I have the tools to manage it, the way I manage all other emotions.
